Starting from September 1. Blue Star Taxis will be the first taxi fleet in New Zealand to accept bank cards in payment. Imprinter machines, the same as the one held by Mr Keith Black, a Christchurch taxi-driver, have been installed in 220 of the company’s 230 cars so far, and will be used to accept Visa and Bankcard. The machines are slightly smaller than those used in shops, arid will be used to take cards for, any fare over $3.
