Olympic A is favoured to take the, fastest time in the annual United Harrier Club’s Port Hills relay on Saturday. It is a stronger team than that which took the fastest time last year for the club. The team, in running order, is B. Hart, J. K. Macdonald, C. Kitchingman, D. Macdonald, A. Thurlow.
Olympic A is off the back mark of ,81min. Two minutes ahead on handicap is University A (F. Nolan, N. McMas-
ter, M. Johnstone, A, Stark, D. Rowell), with New BrightonA (B: Rollo, M. Radcliffe, R. Forsyth, A. McLaren, D. Thomas) on 76 minutes. A record 89 five-member teams have entered, including 13 women’s team?. Competition among the women’s teams will be strong, although University A, even without the national crosscountry champion, Mary O’Connor, looks head and shoulders above the rest. The University women’s A team
is, in running order: A. M. Keown, W. Mollison, A. Wilson, L. Hunt, J. Glass. It will start from 54 miris.
The Olympic A women’s team is also a solid combination, with C. McKenzie, R, Miles, M. Flanagan, N. Bates and S. Miles, off 40min. Included in the field are three teams from two clubs in Invercargill, as well as teams from Timaru and Ashburton and most of the Christchurch clubs.
