Teachers get legal opinion
PA Wellington Lawyers commissioned by the Post-Primary Teachers’ Association thought the State Services Conditions of Employment Bill would remove the ability of teachers effectively to negotiate their over-all hours of work, said the general secretary of the association (Mr B. Webster) yesterday. Teachers had conveyed the legal finding to the Minis f'x of State Services (Mr Thom- | son) in a series of telegrams, he said. “The simple fact is that I the present State Services i Conditions of Employment (Act does contain negotiating rights for teachers which this amending bill will .remove.
“Teachers understand this but Mr Thomson does not,” Mr Webster said.
