General forecast: The strong disturbed westerly airstream flowing over New Zealand will bring more showers to western districts, with some hail and thunderstorms in the South Island. However, fine mild weather is expected to continue east of the main ranges, from Gisborne to Canterbury. It will be cold in western and southern South Island districts, with snow to low levels.
