Nursing losses
PA Wellington New Zealand lost about 1000 nurses to other countries last year, according to the annual report of the Nursing Council. Out of just under 30,000 registered -nurses,' 1057 sought verification, of their qualifications so that they could work overseas, it says. *
Most of the nurses went to Britain, Australia, the United States, Canada, and South Africa. Most of them had less than three years experience.
- During the year 2605 new nurses qualified, about 100 less than in the previous year.
