Fishing , industry plan
Parliamentary reporter A fishing industry development plan is being considered by the industry and the Government. It is tire product of two years'work by the Fishing industry Board,' and is the first attempt to produce a fishing strategy for the next decade.
The plan includes sections on the nature of the fishing resource, investment and capital, product development and marketing, optimum fishing methods, and the interrelationship of the different sectors.
The board does not see its draft plan as a definitive document. It will be kept- confidential in the meantime, so that all concerned parties can have the chance to improve on it and make other suggestions. However, a time limit has been imposed for the receipt of comments, and eventually it is intended to publish the plan as a general strategy available for everyone.
