Sir, — The Christchurch Regional Committee for. the United Nation’s Children’s Fund (U.N.1.C.E.F.) commends “The Press” for printing the cartoon by Paynter, on the front page of . August 6. In conjunction with other United Nations agencies, U.N.I.C.E.F. has an on-going programme; of aid to-the countries .in' the Horn lot Africa — namely, Somalia, Ethiopia, Chad, and Uganda — where the most serious emergencies. has made./rit a result of drought, famine and war. The persistence necessary for U.NJ.C:E.F/)o expand the • emergency' preserve fund for 1980; and we would draw readers’- attention to the appeal. Donations may be forwarded to - the U.N.I.CIE.F.
