Pass closed
State highway 73 between Arthur’s Pass and Otira was closed at 8.45 p.m. yesterday after a rock fall at Candy’s Bend in the Otira Gorge. The senior ranger at Arthur’s Pass Mr J. Charles, said recent warm weather had caused snow and ice in the gorge to thaw, bringing down rocks. The road was expected to. be reopened by this morning.
