Divers probing the wreckage of a sunken eighteenth century ship off the Louisiana coast have brought up 18 kilograms of gold — worth about $400,000 — 13.6 kg of silver and five tons of copper, along with numerous bags of well-pre-served artifacts, Governor Dave Treen had announced. Governor Treen said it is not known if more precious metals are still in the broken-up hulk of the ship, which he said went down in about six metres of water, off the western Louisiana coast. — Berwick, Louisiana.
