Timber shortfall predicted
PA Rotorua Bay of Plenty timberprocessing plants may have to supplement their resources from other New Zealand forests to keep up production, according to Dr. W. Sutton, the leader of the radiata task force at the Forest Research Institute in Rotorua. He told the Rotorua branch of the Institute of Management that “a serious matter for Rotorua was the inability of the forests to supply the present level of processing for the next 15 years.” He believed that after 15 years the supply of trees in the Rotorua area would have risen .'sharply' and that' timber would become the third greatest export .in -New Zealand.- '■ ?7? ■?■'
