Air pollution
Sir, — I am glad that •E. Day sympathises with Clean Air Society, aims but regret that through a misunderstanding of his last letter (August 4) I may' have caused offence. Yet originally he did submit that they (Air Pollution Control) read too much into their findings and now he objects to our “dogmatic” attitude. I would agree that we are tenacious or even persistent, but' F I am old-fashioned enough to reserve dogma for describing an article of faith and of course “smoke” pollution is a proven fact in Christchurch. The scientists have considered all the major aspects of the local pollution problem and' I do so wish that E. Day would consult directly with the air pollution control officer. — Yours, etc., ... P. V. NEARY,' (President), New Zealand Clean Air . Society. August 8, 1980.
