Motu Command looks sound chance at Kurow trots
By

Motu Command, a strong gelding by Scottish Hanover from Motu Milne, a close relation of last season’s top three-year-old, Armalight, could hold the key to success for T.A.B. treble betters at the Kurow meeting at Oamaru today. Motu Command had his latest start at Addington on
July 19 when he ran Espiritu to three lengths. Today he will start from 10m in a field of very doubtful ability, the majority of which have had limited experience. Scout, fourth in the Sapling Stakes and also behind Espiritu, went pleasingly at the Addington trials last Wednesday. He is certain to have benefited from that run and could be too strong for most of his rivals, even from
an awkward draw of No. 13. Kokonui, another to go well at last Wednesday’s trials, is, with Motu Command, the only horse with winning form to his credit. His success came at Hawera last April and he has not started since, although he has had sufficient racing at trials to fit him for this test.
Regal Craft could be the pick of the others. The McCone Handicap, for
maiden pacers, and the Omarama Handicap, for Cl pacers, will be the other legs of this treble. Unfortunately for T.A.B. betters, eight of the second leg field are double acceptors.
Dundas, Gunsmoke and Lerae form a likely trio for the first leg, while Right Bower, Lock Fast and Reincheck appeal most in the second.
