Lyttelton Borough candidates
A full team of candidates for the local body elections. is being put up by Labour in Lyttelton Bor-
ough. The Mayor of Lyttelton (Mr M. E. -Foster) will stand for re-election. He is secretary of the Lyttelton Waterfront Workers’ Union.
Six of the seven sitting Labour councillors seek reelection.
The council candidates are: Mr Geoffrey Adams, a watersider, sitting councillor and chairman of the works committee: Mrs Mary Cretney, a housewife, and sitting councillor, who is interested in community health and communications; Mrs Sheila Edwards,
a machinist, and sitting councillor, interested in social services; Mr Gordon Gumbley, an engineer, involved in the Vintage
Homes Club; Mr Bob McCreanor, a polytechnic tutor, living at Cass Bay; Mrs Waikura McGregor, a housewife, and sitting councillor, serving on the services committee; Mrs
Nita Miles, a housewife, interested in improved community facilities for
families; Mr Patrick Sheehan, a landscape architect, of Diamond Harbour, sitting councillor, also serves on the North Canterbury Catchment Board; Mr Bill Tredinnick, a garage proprietor, and long-serving councillor, Deputy Mayor for the last three years.
