Building used as tool
. Odiins, , Ltd,.: is tired of seeing the building industry being used as an economic tool, the managing director (Mr D. C. Hill) says in the latest annual report. “The year under review saw a continuation of the downturn in the building industry with a further reduction in the number of permits issued,” he says. “We consider that the present level of house construction is too low and foresee that this will cause problems in the future when demand for hew houses must again exceed the capacity of a building industry — which through lack of sufficient volume of work is becoming further run down. “Successive Governments have told us they are not in favour of highs and lows in the building industry but nevertheless the industry is still being used as an economic tool, a short sighted policy which must have adverse effects in the years to come," Mr Hill said.
