Higher and more smog readings
Christchurch smog readings this winter have exceeded 32 times - safety limits which the World Health Organisation 'says should not be surpassed more than seven times a year.
The district air-pollution officer, Mrs R. M. Patterson, said yesterday that the level of smoke, which contributed to the main pollution problem in Christchurch, had exceeded the W.H.O. limit more often this year and with higher counts than last year. Readings for the four months from May to August last year exceeded the limit 21 times.
