Smiths City Market raises dividend
Smiths City Market, Ltd, is increasing the divi-’ dend from 13.5 c to 14.5 c a share, after a 3.1 per cent increase in profit in the year ended April 30. The directors announced in a brief preliminary report that group net profit for the year was 5748,717 compared with $726,000 last year. The profit included extraordinary items total-
ling $62,837 ($2242 last year) and the provision for taxation, at $595,774, was $55,526 lower. The tax-paid stock reserve has been increased by $50,000. Turnover increased 20.2 per cent, from $20.2M to $24.3M. The directors recommend a final dividend of 8.5 c a share, payable on September 25, ex September 9.
