New principals
Mr W. G. Swan has been appointed as the new principal at Linwood High School. He will take uo his duties in 1981.
Mr Swan, aged 48, is at present principal of Cambridge High School. He will succeed Mr J. Orman, who will retire after 14 years at the school.
Mr Swan graduated master of science from Otago University and gained a diploma of education at the University of Canterbury.. He. started his teaching career at South Otago High School in 1956 and moved to Cashmere High School five years later. In 1964 he became head of science at Papanui High School and deputy principal m 1972. He became principal at Cam-
bridge High School from 1973.
Mr Swan is a member of the Rotary Club and is associated with the Hamilton Teachers’ College. Mr J. P. Godfrey will take up the post of headmaster of Burnside High School at the beginning of next year. Mr Godfrey, the associate principal at the school, will succeed Mr A. D. Hunter, who is retiring. Mr Godfrey started teaching in 1960 at Papanui High School. He was at Geraldine High School from 1964 to 1968. Joining the Burnside High School staff as a .senior mathematics teacher in 1969 he became head of the mathematics department in 1970, and associate principal in 1975.
