$500,000 is ‘Light Life’ aim
Half a million dollars from the sale of one million electric light bulbs is the aim of “Light Up a Life,” the New Zealand Jaycees’ biggest fund-rais-ing campaign. Profits, will go the Jaycees’ new South Pacific Children’s Aid Trust to support health, welfare and social development projects for children in the' south-west Pacific. Nearly 5000 Jaycees and their families will help make the sales on August 10. Community radio stations will broadcast numbers which listeners can ring to order light bulbs at $1 each. Orders will be delivered by Jaycees. Information on the “Light Up A Life” campaign and South Pacific Children’s Aid Trust is contained in “Pacific Child,” a Community Newspaper published by the Jaycees and to be delivered to 800,000 homes.
The Jaycees have previously raised $400,000 to support milk biscuit protein feeding programmes in the Pacific.
