Racing and trotting Trainer’s strong hand in Homeby

Eric Tempertbn, from Awapuni, the successful trainer of the last two Homeby Steeplechase winners, will mount a formidable assault on the Christchurch Hunt Club’s feature on Saturday.

Temperton won the Homeby with Thun in 1978 and Glandovey last year, and has paid up with three runners this year, Glandovey being among them. Spearheading the challenge. will be last year’s Grand National victor, Guess Who, which triumphed in the Great' Northern Steeplechase in June. No Retreat, narrow winner of the Wellington Steeplechase, completes the Temperton trio. The North Island will field six of the 11 Homeby runners. Five Ways and No Title, first and second respectively in the Wanganui Steeplechase, are form runners from Levin and Tauherenikau stables, and the Wanganui Hunt Steeplechase winner, Scenic Reserve, completes the northern package. The T.A.B. double on Saturday will be on the Camla Handicap and the Brabazon Handicap. The T.A.B. treble will be on races five, seven and 10, the off-course quinellas on races nine and 10. There will be three course trebles, on races one, two and three; four, five and six; and eight, nine and 10., The bourse doubles, three in all, will be on races two and fobr; five and seven; and nine And 10.
