NZPA-Reuter Teheran The Greek Catholic Archbishop Hilarion Capucci will make a personal appeal to Ayatollah Khomeiny to save Iran’s Catholic schools from closing. . Archbishop Capucci, a highly respected figure in Iran, said he would probably visit the Ayatollah today. “He is the only man who can do anything.” Archbishop Capucci arrived in Teheran last week from Rome after the Vatican grew- alarmed by- z .reports that'the 14 Catholic schools in Iran were increasingly being harassed, by revolutionary authorities. Oh July 16, the Andisheh School in Teheran' Was raided by Revolutionary Guards, who accused ; the priests, and nuns who teach there, of Zionism.
Yesterday, the hard-line “Islamic Republic” daily printed a vitriolic attack on the Vatican, labelling it a “nest of spies.” Ayatollah Khomeiny stepped into the row .yesterday, when his office appointed a two-man panel to scrutinise documents taken from Andisheh, which is still occupied.
