Sir, — The City Council is to be commended for its efforts to dispose of its surplus city buildings to overseas interests, but I wonder if it has considered promoting the old civic chambers as a casino. Ideally situated close to tourist hotels and car park and with just that touch of faded grandeur it would seem ready made. While the City Council deputation is in Wellington pressing for our runway ..extension, perhaps it could point out to the Prime Minister and his colleagues, that while owning and racing horses is.-a pleasant relaxation, other forms of gambling should be available to the people — particularly tourists, who would welcome
