Fares out for skiers
North Island skiers can now get a return air-- ticket from Auckland to Christchurch for $25. The fare is part of a Mount Cook Group ski package,' designed to.-, entice North Islanders to the Mount Cook-owned Coronet Peak ski-field, at .Queenstown; ' 7 ’
To take advantage of the new low -fare, the traveller must buy a ski “package,” the cheapest of which at present is $2BO-from Auckfarid to. Queenstown, and .return.
The “package” includes the air fare, from Christchurch to Queenstown and return, five nights accommodation in Queenstown, daily ski-lift passes, transport to the field, and. a free ski lesson. This part of the “package” comes-to $255, .to which -the $25 return fare from Auckland to Chris tchurch is added to bring .the total to $2BO.
A spokesman for the Mount Cook group said that normally .for this type of package deal a client would pay $394. The company has
.two flights a day from Auckland to Christchurch, one of' which is a through flight. It has two flights a day from Christchurch to Queenstown;/ -■ - The new ski package- applies to passengers embarking at Auckland and Rotorua only. < -
The spokesman for the group said that with the new “package” passengers had .an unlimited stop-over in Christchurch or the South Island. '
