Threatened price rise abandoned
PA ' Gisborne A threatened price rise by Gisborne petrol . station owners did not take place yesterday morning. But petrol resellers in Gisborne feel their stand on the issue of profit margins made its point. The decision to not proceed with the price rise of 2c a litre was made on Tuesday evening in view of inquiries made with the Minister of Energy (Mr Birch) by Gisborne member of Parliament, Mr R. Bell.
Petrol station owners felt the present Motor Trade Association application for a profit margin rise, -which is being considered by the Department of Trade and Industry, might be jeopardised if they went ahead by themselves and made their defiant stand.
