Situations Vacant PAPUA NEW GUINEA HARBOURS BOARD CHIEF ENGINEER THE HARBOURS BOARD is an autonomous Statutory Body of the Papua New Guinea Government and controls the 16 main ports in the country. The position of Chief Engineer will become vacant on January 1, 1981, and applications are invited from suitably qualified Engineers. Major works are carried out by contract and maintenance by the Board’s own staff. The current five-year capital works programme totals approximately K 45 million and maintenance is running at approximately K 650.000 per annum. The Chief Engineer is head if the Board’s Engineering Department and directs all activities in this field utilising consultants where necessary. This is a senior management position and the successful applicant will be required to assume a degree of administrative responsibility in'all of the Board’s activities as required. Conditions of service will be on terms set by the Public Services Commission on Papua New Guinea at Level 21 carrying a salary of K 18.510 ($NZ28,060 equivalent), plus a gratuity of 24 per cent per annum.
