Sir, — the teaching-profes-sion has relieving teachers, who can be called on in cases of sickness or at other times when teachers are- absent. Surely ■ the North Canterbury' Hospital Board could organise a pool of nurses who live in the community, but who, for various reasons are unable to. return to full-time• nursing, but who may be only too ■ happy, to assist for short periods. To reduce non-urgent; hospital admissions, i.e. increase the waiting list, is ■ not the answer.
