Chile unionists’ plea
p A Wellington Chilean watersiders have asked their country’s new Ambassador to New Zealand (Mr Sergio Fuenzalida) to seek the lifting of the Federation ot Labour trade ban with Chile. Mr Fuenzalida, who presented his credentials this week at Government House, arrived in New Zealand with a letter from Chilean unions begging New Zealand unionists to reconsider. . The letter, from the Chilean Maritime Workers Federation, asks New Zealanders to lift the ban in the name of fraternal unity. It calls on New Zealand workers to give a sign of their “good will towards the fraternal spirit that inspires all Chilean workers trying to better themselves.” The announcement ot the letter came before a 12 member delegation of New Zealand business people leave for Chile to build trade contacts thre.
