Commerce Act to cover milk
PA Wellington Legislation would be introduced in Parliament next week to bring town milk pricing under the Commerce Act, the Prime Minister Mr Muldoon) has said. “Milk prices will be set in the same way as beer prices are set, that is, by the same agency,” he told a post-caucus press conference.
“It is proposed that instead of a pricing authority it will come under the Commerce Act,” Mr Muldoon said.
“It has been agreed today that the bill will be be introduced into the House next week and referred to a select committee.” He described the bill as comprehensive legislation affecting the Milk Board and the town milk industry. “It will in essence give rather more oversight of the industry to the producers and vendors,” Mr Muldoon said.
