Verdict on Sumner man’s death

NZPA Sydney Two New Zealanders and a Victorian girl found dead on the outskirits of Mount Isa in October, 1978, had been murdered, a Coroner’s Court found yesterday. Mr K. X Peacock, S.M., in the Mount Isa Coroner’s Court, was giving his finding about the deaths of Tim Thomson, aged 31, of Sumner, Christchurch; his girlfriend, Karen Edwards, aged 23; and their Dunedin friend, Gordon Twaddle. A Court official said that the Coroner had decided that the trio had been murdered by a person or persons unknown. Their bodies were found

at Spear Creek, at the end of the Mount Isa runways. The police said then that they had been executed by a gunman. The discovery of the bodies led to a widespread but as yet unsuccessful search for the kiHer or killers.
