N.Z. film location?

PA Dunedin A team of Japanese film-makers is travelling through New Zealand to find a suitable location for part of a new Japanese television series. The 26-part series tells a love story about a Japanese family which has split up. The husband’s search for his wife and son finally ends in New Zealand. The film-makers, from the Nippon Television

Network Corporation, Japan’s largest network, arrived in Wanaka on July 7. The director, Mr Y. Tanaka, is accompanied by the two producers, Mr K. Onda and Mr K. Hirabayashi, and the writer of the series, Mr J. Miki. Before arriving in Wanaka they had already been to Invercargill and Queenstown. They also planned to visit Mount Cook, Christchurch, Wellington, the Chateau, and Rotorua. A film crew of 23 would

come to New Zealand in September to shoot this part of the film and it would be released in Japan in October, said Mr Tanaka. He hoped to show the 20 million viewers something of New Zealand’s scenery. “I vant to show the Japanese people at home something of your lakes, mountains, and sheep in green fields,” he said. “It may even make them want to come to New Zealand: that is my aim.”
