Chertsey dog racing approved
The Ashburton Greyhound Racing Club has been given authority, to hold 12-race meetings at its new Chertsey Domain track. Race dates were applied for earlier this year.
The club’s secretary, Mrs M. Moore, said the first meeting would be held on August 17 and one a month thereafter until next July.
A steel rail and imported lure were recently installed at the domain. The recent opening of the track coincided with the opening of anothr etrack in South Canterbury. Ashburton club officials expect a good response to their race meetings because there is now a “circuit” of tracks from Christchurch to Oamaru.t
