Situation: -The ridge of high pressure over the South Island from the anticyclone south of-the Chatham Islands is expected to maintain fine frosty weather over most of the South Island but the weak front in the south Tasman sea is expected to bring a few showers to Fiordland and coastal Southland.

Forecasts: Canterbury, Nelson, Buller, Westland: Fine, frosty weather with light winds. Marlborough: Fine, apart from isolated showers in the east. Cool with light winds. Outlook: Mainly fine in Canterbury, Nelson and on the West Coast. A few showers in Marlborough.
