Evert-Lloyd wins French tennis title
NZPA-Reuter pa _ Chris Evert-Lloyd, of . tl United States, yesterday won hi fourth singles title in the Frenc. Open tennis championships, beat ing Virginia Ruzicl. of Rumsnia, 6-0. 6-3. with impressive ease. She played' her classic, steady baseline game, driving the energetic and aggresslze Ruzici into defence and concentrating oh her weak backhand.
Her dominance was apparent from the start, as she won her first service game and then broke Ruzici in the second after five deuces. ...
The Rumanian eighth seed and the 1978 champion- said afterwards that losing the game was a .critical blow to her confidence. ‘Tf I could have won it, I would have been in the match,” she said.

Mrs Evert-Lloyd, who had two tough, three-set matches on her way to the final, said- that it had helped to be “I was never really on top of my game these last two weeks, so I knew I couldn’t start out slow today,” she said. In the men’s doubles- final, the American pair of 'Hank Pfister and Victor Amaya scored an upset by beating the No. 1 seeds, Brian Gottfried (U.S.)' and Paul Raniirez (Mexico), 1-6, 6-4. 6-4. 6-3. ‘ -
