Marines withdrawn
A . total of 1800 United States Marines sent to the Indian Ocean on March 17 have now been withdrawn from the area, the Pentagon has reported. A spokesman said the 7th Fleet task group had left the Indian Ocean through the Lombok Strait, Indonesia, but did not disclose its destination. Their four-ship amphibious group had been conducting naval exercises with other 7th Fleet ships for several weeks recently in the Indian Ocean and in the Arabian Sea approaching Iran.- -Washington.
