NZPA-Reuter Johannesburg The British Lions rugby union team, their backs at last finding form, ran in six glorious tries to beat Transvaal, 32-12, at Johannesburg on Saturday. The Lions led, 19-9, at halftime, and finished by scoring their highest tour total of six tries, one conversion and two penalties to one converted try and two penalties. They won in style, and will have boosted their confidence immeasurably for the
crucial second .’test againsE the Springboks at Bloemfontein next Saturday. Mr Noel Murphy, the Lions’ coach said after the match: “This was our best display of the tour. Gareth Davies was at his best and the halfbacks’ played very well.”
The Lions crushed Transvaal, who fielded a strong pack, in a thrilling game of running' rugby and treated the 35,000 capacity crowd to a feast of try scoring.
