Working Women's Charter

Sir, — Having had a miscarriage of a 12-week foetus, at home, and having had to dispose of it, I would hardly describe it, as Joy Carson (June 5) does so emotively as a “live crying baby.” It is the present law that ensures that a large number of terminations are carried out late in pregnancy, with trauma to everyone concerned. If there were fewer procedural steps a woman had to negotiate before being able to obtain an abortion, I am sure the majority would be performed around the twelfth week. — Yours, etc.,

JUDY M. WATERS. June 5, 1980.
