Bottle store go-ahead for trust hotel
A proposal to extend the Hornby Trust Hotel with the addition of a bottle store has received approval from the Paparua County Council. Evidence in support of a specified-departure application by the Hornby Trust satisfied a county hearing committee that the planned bottle store, of 2000 square metres, was necessary. Its decision, adopted by the council, said the proposal had no planning significance beyond the immediate site, on land owned by the trust between Tower Street and Aymes Road.
The effects on adjoining properties were not seen as greatly different from the present use, it said. The council requires a rearrangement of car-parking and access to it from Tower Street and Aymes Road for both the hotel and the proposed bottle store. The trust will have to pre-
pare a detailed landscape plan for the site and the council will impose conditions on the flow of goods vehicles and the use of signs. The bottle store proposal was opposed by 13 objectors.
