In addition to service work for the Wellington Hospital Board, the majority of Registrar posts have teaching duties to medical students of the Wellington Clinical School of Medicine. Limited accommodation is available for single Registrars. The Wellington Hospital Board’s institutions are approved by the Royal Colleges for basic and advanced training. Regular tutorial courses in the basic sciences and in clinical subjects will be held throughout the year, for those wishing to study for higher degrees and diplomas in the above disciplines. Within the major disciplines many of the posts are rotating so that appointees can obtain variety in clinical experience. Appointments to non-rotating posts may be arranged especially for candidates training for higher qualifications and diplomas. Applicants may apply for general or specific positions and may ask to be considered for more than one post. In all cases applicants must be prepared to remain for a full year.
