Bullish N.Z. market
Based on the N.Z.U.C. index, the New Zealand sharemarket put its best level of 405.26 points, set in July, 1973, well behind it yesterday, when the index rose 4.85 points to 414.75. This gave the index a net gain of 11.50 points on the week. The return of Carter Holt to the market and the merger talks between N.Z. Forest Products and U.E.B. created bullish trading. Fletcher rose 10c to 400 c. and Tasman 10c to 298, as interest continued in timber-related companies.
