Duck held hostage
NZPA-Reuter Newport While most Americans worry about the fate of 53 Americans held captive in Iran, two neighbours in Newport, Maine, are engaged in a hostage drama of their own. For the last 19 days, Gerald De Nicola has held one of Edward Shelter's ducks for ransome, demanding 25c a day. He originally captured two of Mr Shelter’s ducks, but one flew to freedom. Mr De Nicola asserts he caught the ducks foraging in his family’s garden. He also took Mr Shelter to court and charged him with shooting The court found Mr Shelter guilty, ordering a 10-day suspended jail sentence and payment of the cat’s medical bills. Mr De Nicola says the duck will stay until the ransom is paicL _____
