Chch jobless up
Christchurch has 7332 people either registered as unemployed or on temporary work, an increase of 407 on the figure of a fortnight ago. The latest figures .which apply to May 2, show that at that date in Christchurch there were 3654 registered unemployed, of which 2155 were males and. 1499
females, compared with 3487 unemployed on April 18 (2014 males and 1473 females). Those on job-creation programmes numbered 3678 (2744 males, 934 females). The Labour Department placed 392 males and 232 females in job-creation programmes during the second half of April.
