FOR OPOSSUM HUNTERS
A series of seminars aimed at opossum hunters will be held in Christchurch, Blenheim and Greymouth next week by the Animal Health Division of the Ministry of Agriculture in conjunction with Dalgety (New Zealand) Ltd and Wilson Neill Ltd.
Each of the seminars will begin at 12.30 p.m.
The Christchurch one will be- at the Students’ Union building at Ham on Wednesday, the Blenheim seminar at the Waterlee hall at the racecourse on Thursday and? the Greymouth seminar 1 at the Regent Theatre on Friday. The programme for each will be similar and will cover the Agricultural Chemicals (vertebrate pest
control) regulations, as they apply to opossum hunters, safety in the use of cyanide from the human and stock aspects, cyanide and bird life, the breeding, feeding and habitat of opossums, sign reading and spotlighting techniques, the importance of producing first quality skins to obtain the best financial returns (there will be skinning and stretching demonstrations) and the marketing of furs. At each location there will also be a static display ' featuring -the opossum in the wild.
