Firestone talks fails
Rubber worker.- at the Firestone Tire and .Rubber Company in Papanui will hold a stop-work meeting on Monday, after talks
with the management yesterday over claims for a supplementary agreement collapsed.
The meeting.is expected . 'to consider what action to take in support of the which include £“time in motion” service
-leave to be given after , seven years, instead of the
present 10 years, and that shift allowances be accrued and credited to workers in the form of additional annual leave.
Mr G. Lea, the company’s industrial relations manager, said that Firestone had made some con-
cessions on one of the claims, but at this stage the offer was unsatisfactory to the Canterbury Rubber Workers’ Union.
The company employs 283 rubber workers.
