The profit estimates from all the trading divisions of Wilson, Neill, Ltd, are higher than those for the previous year and it is expected! jthat the group net profit! will exceed the record 1979 figure, according to the directors in a brief preliminary report. Turnover for the year to March 31 rose 25.1 per cent, or $7.7 million, to $38.4 million. This figure excludes the grocery division which was sold after two months’ trading. Last year the group net profit rose 12.6 per cent to $1,097,000. The sales of the liquor division was 83 per cent higher, the new liquor supermarkets in Christchurch and

Dunedin being responsible for part of this increase. All major outlets contributed to the improvement, the directors said.

“The home appliance division also showed a substantial 80 per cent increase in turnover. In this division turnove-r was assisted by the acquisition of the Sediey Wells group in Christchurch from October 1. and by a full year’s trading in Invercargill. Again all areas achieved increased sales for the year.”

Export division sales, including commission sales, fell 3.6 per cent, mainly because of reduced sales of seafoods and venison, they said.
