South Island Movement
Sir, — The thought of another tier of government as advocated by the South Island Movement is enough to give the taxpayer the shudders. Your correspondent, L. A. Wright (April 25) complained about Beehive extravagence. Since then he has strangely enough been backed by Mr Quigley, who says that the Government spends too much. He has announced several small economies he has introduced into his portfolio. He must, be alone in this belate’d ■ belt tightening. If not, would his announcement be news? — Yours, etc.’, ’
