Do not worry too much about getting a little paint on window glass. It provides a good seal between glass and wood and can be easily removed with a single-edged razor blade. For those one or two high places that you are unable to reach when painting without a seatiold, tie a paint roller to a broom handle. You will find this quite reasonable. A common difficulty is getting a primer paint to stick evenly on galvanised metal windows, making the surface uneven and unsightly. Grease may be the trouble as it sticks more readily to metal than, to wood. Therefore it is advis-. able to wipe the frames over with white spirit soaked on a rag, then ■wash down as usual. 1 If you are dealing with wood and metal painting at the same time ask at your supplier for twopurpose primer. This will not only save a little money J for quantity but also save - time and trouble changing ’ over for the two types of .1 jobs. . Like the professional, give yourself plenty of time for a clean up before you finish work for the day. It will save time in the long run, save on spoilt materials and tools, and allow you to wind down and not exhaust yourself when the job could be skimped. It is always pleasant to start a new day with everything to hand and equipment in good order. When your decorating is complete make notes of materials used—how many rolls of paper for each room, how many tins of paint, and include in the list those small jobs that you discovered and the ones you will do in the future. . ■ .
