Qualified support for park
_ The Lyttelton Harbour Board will tell the Lands and Survey Department that it supports the proposed Godley Head farm park, but with one reservation. ' The board’s general manager (Mr J. A. McPhail) said that the board was not opposed to the establishment of a farm park at Godley Head, but was concerned about possible vandalism, which could affect the light and fog signal at the head. ' He also said that the steps leading down the cliff face to the lighthouse could be dangerous, and because of the high cliffs overlooking the sea the board did not believe that the area should be open to the public. Notices saying that the area was not accessible to the public had already been posted on the boundary of the lighthouse reserve, he said. A deadline of June 30 has been set for the receipt of public comments about the park.
