J. P. R. in Welsh side
NZPA London The former Welsh captain and full-back, J. P. R. Williams, made another move •towards his inte-rnational comeback yesterday when he was named to lead a Welsh invitation team on a short tour of France this month. Although Wales has 13 players with the British Lions in South Africa and the bulk of the balance of the national squad is in north America, Williams
still heads a side including six internationals. Williams, who “retired” at the end of the 1978-79 season, said in March that he was trying for a comeback and hoped to be picked for Wales against the All Blacks in the centenary test on November 1. He played a significant role in Bridgend’s 15 points to nine win over Swansea a I fortnight ago in the Welsh Cup final.
