Market peaks again
The X.Z.U.C. index rose 1.55 points to set an all-time peak of 407.30 on . a moderately busy, firm New Zealand sharemarket yesterday The market, already stimulated by the take-over bid by Fletcher Holdings for Carter Holt last month, took on renewed interest after the- news of merger talks between U.E.B. and N.Z. Forest Products. U.E.B. firmed a further 5c to 110 c, but N.Z. Forest eased 2c to 280 c.
