Situations Vacant ZOOLOGISTS/FISHERIES BIOLOGISTS UPPER WAITAKI POWER SCHEME A TEAM LEADER and two technical assistants are required to undertake studies into the effects of hydro-electric development on trout stocks and fisheries in the Upper Waitaki Catchment. Duties will include field work, data analysis and the preparation of reports. The team leader should have a Ph.D. or M.Sc. in fisheries, limnology or a related subject and the technical assistants should be graduates in zoology or have practical experience of fisheries work. LOWER WAITAKI POWER DEVELOPMENT Two experienced fisheries biologists are required to study the impact on fish stocks and fisheries of power development in the Lower Waitaki River. Initial duties will Include assessment of various development options, preparation of reports and planning of research projects. They will then be expected to employ and supervise technical staff and commence field studies into anglers’ requirements and relevant aspects of salmon and trout biology. RESEARCH CONTRACTS The above staff will be employed on oneyear contracts with options for renewal. Fees will be dependent on qualifications and experience.
