FIJI ELECTRICITY AUTHORITY SPECIAL PROJECTS DIVISION THE SPECIAL PROJECTS DIVISION is constructing the Monasavu Hydro Electric Scheme and is seeking the following staff— MECHANICAL SUPERVISORS Are required for both heavy equipment and the light vehicle sections. In both cases, the successful applicants will be indentured tradesmen or possess tradesman’s rights certificates. Previous experience in either a field or a workshop supervisory position is essential. Heavy equipment supervisors must have had 10 to 15 years experience in maintaining, servicing and overhauling heavy equipment. Light vehicle supervisors must have had 10 years experience in maintaining, servicing and overhauling Japanese manufactured light vehicles and trucks. Some knowledge of panelbeating would be an advantage. Mechanical supervisors will be required to supervise, work with and train local staff. MASTER PLANT OPERATORS Are required to train and supervise local operators on the Special Projects Division Heavy Equipment. Several years operating experience, a sound mechanical knowledge of the equipment and the ability to communicate with the local operators is essential for this position. The Master Plant operators will also be heavily involved in preventative maintenance. Heavy equipment on the site comprises Caterpillar D 6, D 7, conventional and L.G.P. Dozers, 235 Caterpillar Excavators, Caterpillar 3406, 3408 and 3412 Stationary Engines, Caterpillar 966 C, 980 C and 9888 Loaders, D.J.B. 330 and 350 Haul Trucks, Sullair 750 Air-Tracks, Compressors, Fiat Allis 208 and 14C Dozers plus a variety of smaller plant items. GENERAL CONDITIONS: Employment will be on a two-year contract, with free return economy air fares for leave after one year of service.
